The big Sony press conference is underway, and as expected, their motion controller is the star of the show. We can't be there personally this time, but here comes the news anyway (I'm watching a few liveblogs; the pictures are from Kotaku's). The motion controller will be called the Move, not the Gem or Arc as suspected, and you can use two of them (or one and a nunchuk-like non-ball-topped controller) simultaneously to, say, box or use a sword and shield.
You might have seen a little story bouncing around the net yesterday that Newegg unintentionally sold some fake Intel Core i7 processors to a few upset customers. Can't really blame Newegg, since the packaging is almost exactly the same as the real ones, and of course they shipped out replacements right away. You could probably just send back the fake processor, but hey, why not keep it and take some pictures?
You say that alcohol is your only friend? And you need a nice watch to wear while drinking it? The Happy Hour Timepiece is for you. While the watch itself is pretty standard – a quartz analog movement next to a Chinese LCD movement in a rectangular case – the buckle of the strap holds [...]
Take a break from reading our hard-hitting news coverage and take a look at these cute little things. Perfect stocking stuffer (I know, a little early) for your favorite app developer and/or iPhone fanatic. What with these things, those Android pillows, and all the other tech knickknacks I've been seeing, it seems that pretty soon they're going to need a whole online store just to hold all of them.
With the iPad hitting pre-order in two days and shipping in April, it’s important to think about when and why to buy the iPad. Based on our understanding of the product lifecycle and expected moves by Apple’s competitors, we foresee big changes in the ultraportable landscape with the ultraportable/netbook as we now know it mutating [...]
Let me catch you up. We received a tip back on Monday indicating that the Adamo XPS had disappeared from Dell.com. This of course caught our attention as the super-thin Dell was just announced back in late October and only available for purchase since December.
We of course checked it out and found that the XPS [...]
Who would have thought that all that practice blowing on NES games would pay off? Now all I have to do is learn how to play the harmonica really well, and I can finally quit this blogging business and begin the exciting and lucrative life of the hobo!
Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Cox are busy funding some new, super-duper anti-BitTorrent technology called BitStalker. The difference between it and other anti-BitTorrent systems is that it's said to be accurate. That's a huge development, actually.
This video is bat-shit crazy, and I mean this with all due respect. It shows someone’s thesis in action. Pixel-bots? Sure, why not.

Here’s what’s going on, because the video is reasonably abstract:

Each block operates independently as a self-contained unit, and has full mobility, allowing movement across any physical surface. The blocks operate independently of one [...]
Look at this little guy. It’s just a $20 camcorder that promises to shoot 640x480 video at 30 frames per second. Will you get awesome looking footage out of it? Probably not. Probably absolutely not. Maybe. Probably not, though.
Short version: Scott Jordan understands geeks. Or at least, he understands what geeks want in clothing. The Evolution Travel Jacket takes the same basic concept as the other Scottevest products, and refines it. The Evolution is a jacket with more pockets then most people will ever need, and could quite easily replace a backpack or messenger bag when traveling.
Samsung will soon have a bit of competition in Best Buy's 3D TV department. A $2,899 Panasonic VT20 plasma, Blu-ray player and 3D glasses bundle will go on sale tomorrow expect not all Best Buy stores. It's a Magnolia exclusive.
Surround sound bars are generally about the width of a 42-inch flat panel, which is perfect if you have a large TV. But Asus now has a solution for smaller sets and computers with the Cine5 PC speaker that claims to accurately recreate the surround sound experience in a lot smaller package.

You know what weirds me right the hell out? Companies doing their own unboxing videos. That's our job. I realize they're probably proud of their work and are just itching to show it off, but a new handset getting its first video unboxing by the company that made it is like a dad taking his own daughter to prom. Wrong? Not technically. Kind of awkward? Absolutely.

Oh well. Sony Ericsson decided to debox the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (their ultra-pretty, Snapdragon-powered Android phone) themselves. Go ahead and watch it after the jump -- I won't be too hurt.
Know what’s weird about being an adult? Or adult age, for that matter? You really don’t see too many casts any more. In grade school, it was like “Oh, hey, fifteen kids have broken arms and legs.” Now, it’s like, “I hope a broken arm will be enough to get you to admit you have a drinking problem.”
We're all well aware that Twitter represents man's best chance of Redemption. No one's disputing that. What is in dispute today is just how representative Twitter is of The Real World. Case in point: TNA Wrestling made its long awaited move to Monday nights this week, and all throughout the night "TNA" was a trending topic on Twitter. We've been led to believe that anything that trends on Twitter is hugely important, not merely in the cozy confines of the Twitterverse, but all over Planet Earth. Explain this, then: the show only drew a 0.98 rating (it rounds up to a 1.0). I thought Twitter = ratings?
You might want to take a different approach when shopping for a 3D TV than a standard HDTV. Instead of just looking at the picture quality, you should also take a serious look at the brand's 3D glasses. Some show some clear advantages to purchase that brand's 3D TV and until there's a standard format for 3D glasses, each brand requires its own unique glasses, thereby locking you into that manufacturer's products. Yeah, it's a bit messy right now. Click through for details on all of them.
The convergence of sport and technology! I don't know, I think it's cool. So, here's another. This is the Finale Madrid, and it will be used at the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid this May. In a perfect world, the game will be played between Real Madrid and Barcelona—I will lose my mind if that happens.
Funny thing, isn’t it? That you can watch some little blocks moving on an 8×8 LED matrix and recognize the first level of Super Mario Bros. buried in the squares?
Developed by a Carnegie Mellon student named Chloe for an Arduino class, the project is “a simple version of Super Mario Bros using an 8×8 LED [...]
Mark Cuban and Bud Mayo have been pushing the current generation of 3D long before the current generation of 3D had even been pitched as the next big thing to consumers by TV manufacturers. Cuban and Mayo (sounds like a delicious sandwich) aren’t trying to get you to watch 3D television in your home, though. They actually want you to leave the house.

And you’ll be able to do just that if you live near one of the Cinedigm-fitted 3D theaters that’ll be showing the semi-finals and championship game for the NCAA Final Four college basketball tournament in early April.
